Lately, judging others has been surfacing from the back of my mind. I try my best to give people the benefit of the doubt. So often I pray to be able to look at others as children of a loving Heavenly Father (much like myself) and remember how much God loves each of His children. As much as I try, I am the first to admit that I don't have a halo over my head. When you think you are doing alright at all the churchy things, it's easy to become complacent. Gratefully, I've been lovingly nudged by the spirit and some important things brought to the forefront of my mind--most likely because I need to hear them.
First, the Lord looketh upon the heart. That's in the scriptures, 1 Samuel 16:7 to be precise. Second, be kind. Everyone is going through something. Sister Hinckley said that to her kids every morning before they left for school. I think I might do the same. Third, it's not important who you are, it's what you do. Finally, evaluate your intentions. You may have a heart of gold but so does a hard-boiled egg. Bottom line: judge not.
